Chief Sacca joined the Elizabeth Police Department in 1995. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2005, Lieutenant in 2009, Captain in 2013, Deputy Chief in 2018 and sworn in as chief is 2020. Before earning his role as the agency administrator, Chief Sacca served as the Commanding Officer of the Emergency Service Unit, Patrol Division, Narcotics Unit, and Training Division. Chief Sacca’s current responsibilities include the management of daily operations, strategic planning for the agency, and ensuring the resource needs of over 365 sworn members of the department. The Elizabeth Police Department maintains statistical data which is used as a management tool in reducing crime, improving procedures, and training, and providing transparency. In 2022, the department implemented CompStat, which through management, statistics, and accountability, the goal is to drive down crime to a record low.
