The Elizabeth Police Department Communications Division has a primary responsibility of providing police service to the citizens of Elizabeth. The Communications Division is commanded by a Lieutenant who operates a 911-dispatch center (police, fire, ambulance), and a camera-monitoring center. Under the Lieutenant's command are 1 Sergeant, 42 Civilian Dispatchers, and 5 Security System Operators.
The Communications Division is also the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) coordinator with the FBI. It is responsible for the security and proper entry and dissemination of information of the NCIC computer system. It is also in charge of implementing new systems that the Police Department purchases and is involved in the training of all Officers and Dispatchers on these systems.
